In the dance performance ’18 Degrees below the horizon,’ Dunja Jocic captivates the audience with a mesmerising display of dark energy.
As the group moves in with rhythmic stomping, there’s an underlying tension reflected in their movements, resisting the pressure of the dimly lit space and the pulsating music by Michael Gordon, infused with indigenous choirs. However, despite the resistance, they ultimately yield, unable to fully break free. This creates a palpable tension throughout Dunja Jocic’s piece ’18 Degrees below the horizon,’ drawing in the audience and keeping them on the edge of their seats.
