Arcus Cloud

Two years ago, the renowned New York composer Michael Gordon (Bang on a Can) wrote a gripping piece called ‘8’ for the Amsterdam Cello Octet, an adventurous collective of cellists who embrace new music and interdisciplinary performances. Dunja Jocic was immediately inspired by the music. The eight cellos sound like an autumn storm as it roars to life and then dies back down. The many colour tones encapsulated in the music, from extremely bright to deepest black, have been transformed by Jocic into a choreography for two dancers, surrounded by a moving video landscape created by designer Filip Mikic. Using motion capture video, the movements, images and sounds of the dancers and musicians are transformed into an overwhelming sight and sound storm.

“Magical unity of dance, music and projections. Enchanting.”

Dagblad van het Noorden

“The fusion of music, images and dance results in a gesamtkunstwerk in which you can lose yourself completely, with your eyes open. A fever dream from which you wake up after an hour.”
